Equestrian Boots

If there is one fashion trend that on which I would have to say I have jumped on its bandwagon...it would be a loose comfortable oversized top/sweater with tights and the knee-length, horseriding looking boots. What can I say? Fashion Victim Is Me!

I, like so many others out there (i hope) do not like walking down the street and seeing someone dressed exactly like me...In fact I do not like having someone with the same idea as me when it comes to putting together outfits. Realistically, I recognize that due to a lack of my own personal cobbler, tailor and accessory designer, odds are I would be running into someone with an item I claim as mine. HOWEVER, there is a major difference between sharing a piece of clothing (which as long as the other party in question rocks it the right way I totally appreciate the commonality) and looking like we attend the same boarding school!
With the boots, sweater and tights combo however, I have learned to accept my fate as a victim of jumping on a combination someone other than me invented. In coming to this realization, I get a little consolation in the fact that it is a practical and quite comfortable outfit for the current weather. I do not need to perpetually hold my breathe due to the loose nature of the top, walking around in tights feel like walking bottomless and the boots provide the warmth, comfort and style needed to go from walking the mall (a few times) to meeting a pal at the closest bar without feeling overdressed or underdressed in either scenario.
For the aforementioned reasons, I am therefore proud to assert (in this instance and this instance ONLY). My name is Janet, and I AM A Fashion Victim!

Any other victims out there??

Indoor Glasses, And I Don't Mean Prescription...

I love sunglasses!

Find the perfect frame(s) that fit your face and you're good to go! Hey even Jackie O. amongst other things, is being idolized because of her sunglasses. Its a fact that cannot be debated.....we've seen it on our television screens where the "bad boy" becomes even badder the instant he slides on those dark shades. For me, the reflecting aviators worn by the cops in the movies of old always seem to send a shiver down my spine (wierd?? i know) and still gets me today! For keeping the aviators alive, I would like to send a special thank you to the folks at Ray-Ban. Sunglasses, like the little black dress would always be stylish....there is no going wrong with them. They almost always give you the "cool factor" many of us desire and they are the most functional accessories -- When Worn Under the Sun!!!

I have a few favorites that have worked for me and I am more than happy to share...

We have the classic Ray-Ban aviators...

The Emporio Armani Aviators

And my personal favorite the Gucci Aviators!

However, my love for sunglasses is not the reason for this post....

I am not the first to notice and neither would i be the last to have a discussion about the plenty a people who try to take this "cool factor" a step further by wearing their shades indoors and worst of all sometimes in a dark nightclub! If your name is not Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, OR you have not just walked out of the cosmetic surgeons office OR you do not have a black eye you are trying to cover OR you are not trying to avoid the flash of the papparazzi,...there is ABSOLUTELY no reason to be wearing shades indoors where there is no sun! It is unacceptable. Always has been, and will always be! So in the interest of not becoming a fashion victim...or better still ruin a perfectly functional style-piece.

Please abstain!

Functional Style

How do you maintain a style your own AND still stay warm in days when the clouds look like they are about to burst, the ground feels like there is a constant water leak and there is a constant mist in the air. If there is ever one song I can relate to it would be "I Cant Stand The Rain." Besides the fact that it makes the task of going to work a bit more painful, rainy days make dressing up seem like such a drag!

On days such as this you see all styles and designs of the "Wellies" with the bright pink, yellow, flourescent green and whatever other bright colors the makers of the wellies dream to create all meshed together in spirally squiggly lines, makes me feel like I am on the set of "The Spy Who Shagged Me". I am not a fan of the Wellington Boots (Suprise!!) because unless I am wearing a bright yellow raincoat with the matching hat standing on the edge of a boat about to toss out a fishing net OR I am holding my mothers hand and a lunch box in the other on my way to kindergerten there is JUST no excuse for trodding along in those things with a laptop case in one hand and a Starbucks/Dunkin Donuts cup in the other...a contradiction if you ask me!

Sooo.....what then must one wear on rainy days such as this when it seems like the sun is taking a personal day? yet still be able to maintain a certain level of style?? How does one achieve a functional style??

This would be the thesis of this blog...my research question if you must.....and in order to arrive at a valid conclusion, we would take each day at a time and learn from each other. Feel free to input....and i would obviously do the same...as it is MY blog

A bientot!
