Another birthday just passed. Another 365.75 [something] days added to my chapter and I've come to realize that how I spend my days equate to how I spend my life. Life is not passing me by. The days are passing me by. Moments are passing me by. Time is passing me by.
I've come to realize that many of us live life looking forward to one event that is not set to take place a month, two months or even six months in advance and that event becomes the focus of our lives at that particular time. Whether it be a vacation (we all need one of those), a wedding (can't seem to escape those these days, people are taking marriage waay too seriously in my world), a conference (don't understand why anyone would look forward to one of those) or even a birthday you are trying to celebrate big. Everyone is looking forward to something! And inevitably, the anticipation consumes our days and becomes the focus of our lives – until they come and go and then we're looking forward to the next big event/thing.
What ends up happening is that we look back and remember our 365.75[something] days as being defined through three or four major events that happened. Quite sad.
Life is a succession of moments and to live each one is to succeed.
My birthday resolution is therefore not to let the days or even moments pass me by. I'm going to live my life watching the clock. Literally. Why? Because time is a companion that goes with us on this journey called life. It reminds us to cherish each moment because it will never come again. Therefore, I suggest we all invest in some pretty good functional timepieces because if you choose for life to pass you by, you might as well watch it go by accurately :-) . I have refused, currently refuse and would continue to refuse (you get the picture), at any age, to be content to just look on, performing mundane tasks, while waiting and looking forward to the next event to occur. Life was meant to be lived and curiosity must be kept alive.LeeAnn Womack had the right idea in her song where she sang:
"I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance...
...I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances But they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake But it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out Reconsider
Give the heavens above More than just a passing glance..."
Alors,
J'espère que tu trouve ton raison d'être, Pour encourager les autres, faute de mieux, et généralement pour le joie de vivre!
